You are Gold

I penned this in response to some trouble a friend is having with haters. now, we all deal with them from time to time, and living our dreams tends to make them come out of the woodwork in droves. This friend is living her dream, and fighting against all the hate. Hopefully she knows who she is.

 

You are Gold

“Sticks and stones
May break your bones,
But words can
Never hurt me.”
Load of crap!
You’ll hear me say.
Words, they hurt.
Your world turns gray.
Words are sharks,
They rip and tear.
Words devour,
Your wounds laid bare.
People judge,
They poke and pry,
Meddle, laugh,
Until you cry.
There is hope!
In darkness wends
Light and love
From all your friends.
Their words lift,
Erase the hate.
Loving words
Illuminate.
Let them hate.
They’ll realize
You are gold
In all our eyes.
